Short Assignments

You’ll complete a handful of short assignments over the semester, mainly intended as preparation exercises for our major projects. These may range from exploration to analysis, but they will almost always ask you to describe and discuss specific aspects of some public genre, applying some of our theoretical concepts to understanding its composition more fully. For at least one assignment, you’ll be locating and editing a published text, and justifying your editorial decisions. Since you’ll be posting these assignments to your blog, you should consider them early and frequent opportunities to hone your explanation skills for a more public audience.
